A lifelong writer, Christa S. Plew completed her first book at age 8 on her grandma’s typewriter. Since then, she’s won several writing competitions and scholarships in both fiction and non-fiction genres. She earned a BA in Journalism and another BA in Spanish Language, as well as an MBA from Indiana University. Though she’ll readily admit, these days she speaks more Spanglish then Spanish.
Throughout her career, Christa has written just about every type of content there is from news stories, brochures, and ads to novels and short stories. She has also edited multiple novels, manuscripts, surgical techniques, and articles. Christa has served as President of the American Christian Fiction Writers Indiana Chapter, among others.
Christa and her husband live in Indiana with their adorable son. When she isn’t immersed in a writing project or playing with her family, you can find her helping with a church mission project, at the airport learning to fly, or planning her next bucket list adventure.
Guillaume D. Dumont, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist in Columbia, South Carolina. He specializes in the arthroscopic treatment of hip, shoulder, and knee injuries. Dr. Dumont has a unique passion for hip arthroscopy and the treatment of hip injuries in young, active individuals. He understands the challenges that many patients experience while seeking answers, diagnoses, and treatments for their injured joint, and uses an individualized approach to ensure patients understand the injuries affecting them.
Following his training in Orthopedic Surgery, he completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine where he gained valuable experience in minimally invasive shoulder procedures, in addition to studying advanced arthroscopic techniques with leaders and innovators in shoulder surgery. Dr. Dumont spent the final chapter of his training honing his skills in hip arthroscopy. He continues to build on these experiences to further the care he’s able to provide his patients.
In his spare time, Dr. Dumont enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, watching football, traveling, and listening to audiobooks.
Andrew A. Freiberg, M.D. is a fellowship-trained, world-renowned orthopedic surgeon with 30 years of experience in clinical orthopedics. He is an expert in adult reconstructive surgery with an emphasis on hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as an accomplished innovator in minimally invasive orthopedic surgery.
Throughout his career, Dr. Freiberg has made remarkable scholarly contributions in the field of orthopedic surgery. He has published 90 peer-reviewed papers, numerous book chapters, and has even edited his own textbook on Orthopedic Radiology. Dr. Freiberg is an accomplished teacher and researcher, and a highly sought after speaker both nationally and internationally for his work devoted to clinical innovation. He has also been a frequent program leader for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation. Additionally, Dr. Freiberg has collaborated closely with Zimmer Biomet over the years on numerous important initiatives, such as medical training and education, product development, clinical research, and health hazard evaluations. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Zimmer Biomet.
In his spare time, Dr. Freiberg and his wife enjoy boating, fishing, and visiting with their two grown children when they’re in town.
Brian D. Lewis, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon and Hip Preservation Specialist practicing in Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina. He is also an assistant professor at Duke University specializing in hip preservation surgery. Dr. Lewis treats a wide variety of hip disorders and is well versed in open and arthroscopic treatments.
After finishing orthopedic residency he spent 3 years as a general orthopedic surgeon. During this time, he realized his passion was treating hip disorders, so he spent an additional year of fellowship training in hip preservation and anterior total hip replacement. He sees patients of all ages and emphasizes that his goal is to find the right treatment for every patient in order to restore their quality of life.
In his spare time, Dr. Lewis enjoys spending time with his wife and four children outdoors, hiking and camping in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
Thomas J. Aleto, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon in Columbia, Missouri. He specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. For the first 10 years of his career, Dr. Aleto served as an Assistant Professor in Adult Reconstruction at the University of Missouri.
Dr. Aleto has a particular interest in partial knee replacement, with nearly half of his knee replacement practice in this field. He has served as a faculty member for the Oxford Partial Knee Advance Courses for many years. Dr. Aleto has also instructed on many aspects of joint replacement throughout his career to both surgeons in training and practicing surgeons, nationally and internationally.
In his current practice, Dr. Aleto treats all aspect of hip and knee reconstruction, from a straightforward primary joint replacement to a complex revision procedure. Throughout his career, he has paid special attention to the importance of the physician-patient relationship and its role in achieving optimal outcomes and meeting patient expectations.
Susan A. Alexander is a lifelong lover of words. Among other word-related pursuits, she enjoys journaling and blogging, as well as word games. She earned a BA in Psychology from Grace College in Winona Lake.
Having worked in the orthopedics industry for a long time, Sue has written and edited many different types of materials, from corporate annual reports to patient education brochures. Give her a writing or editing assignment and she will happily plug away at it. She likes researching and learning new things.
Sue enjoys spending time with friends and family and volunteering with children’s ministries at her church. She also likes to immerse herself in a good book.
Raven S.D. Lopez hails from the Midwest and received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. A former social worker, her cases involved everything from substance abuse to domestic violence to human trafficking.
It was through this work that Raven became increasingly interested in social determinants of health and public health policy. Thus she went back to school getting her MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management. Now she spends her days developing content educating patients about their musculoskeletal health options.
Raven and her husband live in Indiana, catering to the whims of a bossy cat and ever-anxious Labrador. When she isn’t working you can find her hunting for the next great book to add to her library (she owns over 1,100 books!) or convincing her husband to start another home renovation project.
